Ina Garten, an American chef and author as well as Emmy Award-winning host of Food Network's oldest program Barefoot Contessa which began broadcasting in 2002 and will run for 27 seasons until 2020. Ina began her career working for the White House, writing the nuclear energy budget and other policy documents. Although she found her job fascinating initially, in the end she stopped her pursuit and bought a tiny speciality food shop - Barefoot Contessa. It was a huge success for over 18 years, until she made the decision to close it. After that, she started the first book. Other cookbooks followed, as magazines too. In the meantime, the Food Network television show too began its run and was a hit. Furthermore, she sells everything from kitchen equipment to tools and storage containers. Ina is a self-taught cook who has never attended a cooking school, nor had a job in the kitchen. Her casual approach to entertaining and her straightforward cooking style are well known. Some of her best known recipes include the Skillet-Roasted lemon Chicken Beatty's Chocolate Cake Mac and Cheese Beef Bourguignon Balsamic-Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Lemon Bars.
